Chandelier at ChurchKey

There are generally three kinds of details: details you notice, details you don’t notice and details you pretend not to notice. This is the former. ChurchKey opened a few months ago in DC and distinguished itself largely with a deep and wide beer menu, delicious bar food and the right people packing its space from happy hour ’til close. I love it for its exposed brick walls on one side and lush chandelier sconces on the other and for the medium-plank dark wood floors with the grain that runs from the front to the back wall – approximately the length of a soccer field – rather than from side to side as one would expect. ChurchKey is substance and details done well.
