Staycation needed

iPhone: Kells

Can a girl get some sleep over here?  As you know, I took an unplanned trip to Seattle this weekend.  While it’s always fantastic seeing my family, the trip was for rather unfortunate reasons.  Our family dog, Chewy, passed away Thursday night and I found out while I was at dinner with a friend.  My mother was in really bad shape (Chewy was more like a member of the family than a pet), so I flew up to be with her.

That entailed getting home at midnight Thursday night, packing and being up at 4 am in order to catch the first flight out. It was late nights and early mornings for me this weekend – our days were packed with distractions. Then I took the first flight back to SF yesterday morning (another 4 am start) and went straight to work from the airport. I was looking forward to crashing, but one of my good friends was in town, so I met her for drinks and dinner after work.

We spent the majority of the night hanging out at Kells (whose floral centerpiece is pictured above), telling hilarious stories of how random our lives are. Needless to say, I passed out as soon as I got home. Exhaustion coupled with the miserable rain really made me want to stay in bed all day today. But I’m taking another 3-day weekend from work to fly down to Dallas Thursday night to surprise my brother for his birthday (pretty sure he doesn’t read my blog, so I think it’s safe to announce it here).

Then I have friends coming into town the following weekend… Oh man. I’m really hurting for a weekend where I can do absolutely nothing!
